Ownership and editorial direction (Offenlegung)

Required by § 25 Mediengesetz.

Sole owner of the business is Manuel Hanel, Vienna. No other person or company holds a share in it, silent or otherwise. Business purpose: web and media services, advertising graphic design.

cooltools.blog is a privately run, English-language publication about tools: software, ways of working, hardware, and small tricks of daily life.

Its editorial direction (grundlegende Richtung) is the independent assessment of such tools from actual use. The measure is the time a tool survived in daily use. The cases where a tool was given up are published as deliberately as the ones where it was kept; that part belongs to the editorial direction and is not held back.

Entries are the personal opinion of the publisher. There are no paid cooperations, no advertising, no sponsored entries, and no holdings in the companies whose tools are covered. If a tool is provided free of charge or at a discount, that is disclosed in the entry. Should commission links ever be used, they will be marked as such in the entry itself.

Voluntary contributions from readers create no claim to coverage and have no influence on which tools are chosen or how they are judged.

Privacy

Controller under the GDPR is the company named above. No data protection officer is appointed; the conditions of Art 28 GDPR are not met.

What this site does not do

It sets no cookies. It loads no fonts, maps, videos, social media buttons or any other content from third-party servers. The typefaces are served from the same server as the page. There is no comment function, no newsletter, and at present no audience measurement of any kind.

Server log files

When you open a page, your browser transmits technically necessary data which the web server records: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the amount of data transferred, the status code, the browser identification and, where applicable, the page you came from.

The legal basis is Art 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the secure and undisturbed operation of the site. Logs are deleted after seven days at the latest and are not combined with other data.

The server is operated by ALL-INKL.COM, Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany, as a processor under Art 28 GDPR. No data is transferred outside the European Union.
